Exceptions To Confidentiality
There are a few, specific areas where it may be necessary to break confidentiality, according to the laws and ethics that regulate my profession. These areas are as follows:
- If you or another person(s) are at risk of imminent life-threatening harm.
- If there is suspected abuse of a person who is under age 18, is classified as elderly, or if they are classified as a vulnerable adult who is dependent on others for care.
- If records are court ordered
- If records are seized under the Patriot Act
